Let's start Winnable Wednesday by going for the jugular. Let's take a look at the big picture and make sure that you are living your life to make sure that you can survive the endgame. Winnable Wednesday is about preparing for the future by being proactive today. How do you expect to retire and afford to live with no income for 25-30 years if you spend all of your paycheck today? Mr. Mustache Money is an awesome blogger and wrote an article about retirement savings as a percentage of your take home pay.
The concept is simple and in a way, it removes the "How Much Do I Need to Retire?" question from your retirement planning. If you concentrate on percentages, this formula/mindset should work for anybody, no matter what your salary. Even if you are 20 years old, the savings rates and years until retirement can be intimidating. But trust me, it's better that you find this out today, instead of finding this out when you are 50 years old.
What do you think? Is this a smart strategy? Or a ridiculous one?
